Squale X DRASS Galeazzi: pioneers of underwater exploration renew their collaboration with a limited-edition timepiece of 500 pieces, celebrating the centenary of the patent that transformed deep-sea exploration. For this occasion, Squale has revived a safety technology found in some of the earliest professional diving watches: the Wet Indicator.
Integrated into the Pantone 295U blue dial is an internal humidity-detection disc known as the Wet Indicator. Through a change in colour, it signals any water ingress into the case. Long before the introduction of modern water-resistance testing instruments, early watches designed for professional underwater use employed indicators of this kind, providing divers with an immediate way to verify the condition of their instrument and its reliability at depth.
Further enhancing the historical significance of this timepiece is the DRASS Galeazzi logo, featuring the unmistakable diving helmet, screen-printed onto the inner surface of the flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. This technique creates a striking floating effect, making the logo appear to hover above the dial.
The 39.5 mm case, with a thickness of 12.6 mm, is crafted from brushed 316L stainless steel with polished bevels and is water-resistant to 600 metres. Both the crown and case back are screw-down, with the latter engraved with the DRASS Galeazzi logo.
Inside, the ETA 2824-2 movement provides a 42-hour power reserve. The unidirectional K1 glass bezel echoes the Pantone colour of the dial and is complemented by a Super-LumiNova BGW9 minute track.
The watch is paired with a sand-coloured microfibre strap with a distinctly vintage character, as well as a second mosaic-pattern rubber strap, colour-matched to the dial and bezel.
The dedicated SQUALE DRASS Galeazzi presentation box is conceived as a journey through the history of the underwater world. Made from deliberately aged-looking cardboard and adorned with the historic DRASS Galeazzi and SQUALE logos, it houses the watch together with a canvas travel pouch. Inside the pouch is a bronze medal featuring the Galeazzi Diver and SQUALE logos: a highly collectible detail conceived to celebrate the collaboration and the historical heritage that connects the two companies.
